The visitor was incorporated in 2014 and is operating out of Ibadan, Nigeria. The management consists of Mr Lukman Aroworamimo (Nigeria), Mr Christian Adabor Badu (Ghana) and Dr Oliver Preisig (Switzerland). IBWA aims to provide genomics products and services to researchers in the West African region (Nigeria, Ghana, Benin, Burkina Faso, The Gambia, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Ivory Coast, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Senegal, Sierra Leone, and Togo). IBWA officially opened its doors for merchantry in March of 2015 and our office is located at the Bioscience Centre of the International Institute for Tropical Agriculture (IITA), Ibadan. As a company, our mission is simple – to facilitate life science research in West Africa by making it possible for researchers in the region to be on par with their counterparts in other parts of the world. This is why we exist as a company! Although we have only been in West Africa for barely a year, we have wilt a household name with life scientists in West Africa. Our team is made up of young, energetic and professional individuals, who share our passion on what the future of African research holds. To date, we have organized several workshops aimed at training scientists in vital molecular techniques, bioinformatics and phylogenetic analysis. Going forward, our aim is to have a state-of-the-art facility similar to what we have in South Africa here in West Africa. As part of our objectives of making reagents and consumables increasingly accessible, we currently have several freezer programs in Nigeria and Ghana. For details, see below.
